One of the most popular landing places for foreign immigrants in Canada is Ontario. It has been the most populated place and a home to Ottawa, Canada’s capital and Toronto, the largest city. Ontario has been considered as one of the main destinations contributing to a good economic, political and social life.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is a popular program giving opportunities for the interested immigrants to get permanent residency in the province. This program was previously popular as Opportunities Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OOPNP). The potential immigrants who have the required skills and experience are intended by the province through this program. These candidates get an Ontario Provincial Nomination Certificate that lets them apply for permanent residency in Canada. This program initiates faster processing as compared to other immigration classes.
This program aims at obtaining applications from the following categories:
Category 1: Ontario Express Entry- this includes human capital priority stream and French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
Category 2: General Category (also known as employer category) – this includes Foreign Workers with a Job Offer Stream
Category 3: International Student Category- this includes international students with a job offer stream, with Masters Graduate Stream and Ph.D. Graduate Stream
Category 4: business category which includes Entrepreneur Stream, Corporate Stream, and Investors stream.
Ontario, in May 2016 declared that the province is going to temporarily pause accepting the applications for some selected OINP categories. It has recessed the intake of high volume applications. Anyhow, the low-volume categories have remained open for the candidates to apply.

The applications under this stream have been temporarily paused since February 16, 2016.
This stream basically nominates candidates who have the potential to enter the federal Express Entry pool. These candidates are required to have the necessary skilled work experience, education, language ability and other features that can help them favorably organize and consolidate into Ontario’s labor market and society.
This program is for the French-speaking skilled worker category who possess strong language abilities and want to permanently settle in Ontario. It helps the OINP to select candidates from the Express Entry pool who possess the necessary skills, work experience, education, language ability and other features that can help them favorably organize and consolidate into Ontario’s labor market and society.
The province has paused accepting an application from applicants under this category since May 9, 2016. Anyhow, the foreign skilled workers who have already exercised this program and have been certified can continue to endure the nominee application.
This category includes Ontario employers who can enlist foreign skilled workers for the certified skilled positions. The certified skilled positions are restricted by the government of Canada as NOC skill level O, A or B. these candidates might or might not be living in Canada during the time of application.
This category belongs to students from abroad.

Anyhow, the international students of graduate and Ph.D. Graduate streams with a job offer who have already exercised this program and have been certified can continue to endure the application process. Only those applications stay open for the applicants whose employment offer has been certified by Employer Pre-screen application process.

This category was developed to benefit employers recruit foreign students. This stream is available to Ontario employers and the students with employment offers in the Ontario.
This category looks up for candidates who have graduated along with a Master’s degree from any of the Ontario’s publicly funded universities. An employment offer is not necessary for this stream.
This category looks up for candidates who have been granted a degree from a Ph.D. program at any of the Ontario’s publicly funded universities. An employment offer is not necessary for this stream.
This stream looks up for potential candidates who want to start their own business or buy an existing business in the province. The successful applicants will receive a temporary work permit support letter which is provided on the basis of the performance agreement. This work permit is essential for establishing a business in Ontario. if the candidates satisfy the minimum requirements of investment and job creation as per the agreement. They will get an opportunity to be nominated for the status of permanent residency in Canada.
This category looks up to benefit and support settled international corporations who are considering their extension in Ontario or to buy an existing business. Once they have their business successfully settled, they primary staff is eligible for applying for permanent residency in Canada. They will have to apply for a provincial nomination certificate at the beginning.

The FSTW visas are generally processed in 6-12 months. The selection pattern solely depends upon the frequency of draws and ranking of the applicant in the pool.
In order to apply for a FSTW visa, the applicant must a qualifying job offer or a certificate of trades from the selected province. This certificate is called the certificate of qualification and symbolizes the candidates trade skills are recognized and accepted.
